Strategy Is Turning Its Preferred Stocks Into Daily Income Products
Strategy shareholders have approved a major redesign of four perpetual preferred securities: dividends will accrue every calendar day, including weekends and holidays, instead of following the previous semi-monthly or quarterly cadence. STRC will switch first in November, with STRF, STRK and STRD following in January 2027. The annual dividend rates are not increasing. Strategy is changing how frequently investors earn and receive the cash, with the goal of making its preferred securities more liquid and attractive.Shareholders approved daily dividends for STRF, STRC, STRK and STRD
Strategy held a special shareholder meeting on October 28, 2026 and obtained the required approval to amend the terms of STRF, STRC, STRK and STRD. Michael Saylor said preliminary results showed 99.3% of votes cast supported the proposal. Strategy's official October 28 Form 8-K confirms that shareholders approved amended certificates allowing daily dividends for all four securities. The four preferreds currently occupy different parts of Strategy's credit stack. STRF carries a 10% fixed annual rate, STRK 8%, STRD 10%, while STRC has a variable rate that currently stands at 12%. The switch to daily accrual does not change those headline annual rates.
The change is therefore about payment mechanics rather than a larger promised yield. Investors receive smaller dividend entitlements far more frequently instead of waiting for a much larger periodic distribution.
STRC switches first on November 1
STRC will be the first Strategy preferred to enter the new system. Its first daily record date is scheduled for November 1, 2026, with the first payment under the new cadence expected on November 2. STRF, STRK and STRD are scheduled to begin daily record dates on January 1, 2027, with their first payments expected on January 4.The timing makes STRC the test case for the model. Strategy has already experimented aggressively with STRC's structure, including moving the security to semi-monthly dividends and adjusting its variable annual rate to encourage the shares to trade near their $100 stated amount.
If daily accrual improves liquidity and reduces price distortions around dividend dates, Strategy can apply the same mechanism across the rest of its preferred-stock ecosystem at the beginning of 2027.
Daily dividends do not mean seven separate cash payments every week
The most important technical detail is that dividends accrue every calendar day, but the cash does not necessarily arrive every calendar day. Strategy's filing explains that shares cleared through the Depository Trust Company continue to follow normal market settlement rules. If record dates fall on a weekend or DTC holiday, those dividends can share the preceding eligible record date and be paid together on the next business day. Strategy gives the example of Friday, Saturday and Sunday dividends being grouped and paid on Monday.
The structure is therefore better understood as continuous daily dividend accrual with business-day cash settlement. Weekend and holiday income is not skipped, but it may arrive together rather than as separate transfers.
Strategy wants to shorten the gap between earning and receiving income
Management argues that increasing payment frequency can reduce reinvestment lag, improve liquidity, increase market efficiency and help stabilize preferred-share prices. For income investors, receiving cash sooner also means the capital can potentially be redeployed sooner rather than remaining accumulated inside the security until the next scheduled distribution. This is particularly important for STRC because Strategy actively manages its variable dividend rate around a $100 stated value. Moving from larger periodic distributions to very small daily accruals reduces the amount of unpaid dividend value building up between payment dates.
In practice, Strategy is trying to make preferred equity behave more like a continuously yielding financial product while retaining the legal structure of a listed perpetual preferred stock.
Strive is already competing for the same daily-income investor
Strategy is not alone in experimenting with daily dividend securities. Strive has also built Bitcoin treasury preferred products around frequent cash distributions. Its new SATS preferred stock carries a 15% annual dividend rate and begins its regular business-day dividend schedule in November.According to Strive's SEC filing, the initial SATS dividend is scheduled for November 9, followed by declared cash dividends for each business day from November 10 through November 30. This puts Strategy and Strive into increasingly direct competition for investors looking for high-yield securities connected to corporate Bitcoin strategies.
The competition is important because these companies are no longer differentiating themselves only by how much Bitcoin they own. They are designing credit products around their balance sheets and competing on yield, liquidity, payment frequency and capital structure.
Strategy's 848,517 BTC treasury sits behind the broader credit strategy
Strategy remains the dominant public corporate Bitcoin holder. Its official Bitcoin ledger currently shows 848,517 BTC, representing just over 4% of Bitcoin's fixed 21 million maximum supply. That enormous treasury is central to Strategy's financial identity and supports the market narrative around its preferred securities. However, the preferred stocks should not be treated as Bitcoin deposits or direct claims on individual BTC. Investors own corporate securities with their own dividend terms, market prices and risks.
That distinction becomes especially important when the products begin to resemble savings instruments through daily income. A 12% annualized STRC rate paid through frequent distributions may look deposit-like from the outside, but it remains preferred equity issued by a Bitcoin-heavy public company rather than an insured bank account.
Daily dividends expand Saylor's Bitcoin capital machine
The larger strategy is becoming increasingly clear. Strategy has transformed Bitcoin accumulation from a treasury decision into a capital-markets platform built from common shares, debt and several classes of preferred securities aimed at different investor groups.Daily dividends add another feature to that system. Income-focused investors receive more frequent cash flow, while Strategy hopes stronger demand and better liquidity will improve its ability to raise preferred capital efficiently. That capital can then support the company's broader balance sheet and Bitcoin treasury strategy.
The result is something increasingly unusual in public markets: a company using one of the world's largest corporate Bitcoin reserves as the center of an expanding family of yield-oriented securities. Daily dividends do not change Strategy's Bitcoin thesis, but they make the financing machine surrounding it more sophisticated.
Conclusion
Strategy's daily-dividend amendments change the timing of accrual and settlement, not the stated annual dividend rates. The structure may reduce reinvestment delays and make the preferred securities easier to price between payment dates, but it does not turn them into bank deposits or direct claims on Bitcoin. Investors still need to evaluate issuer credit, market price, liquidity and exposure to Strategy's Bitcoin-heavy balance sheet.Sources
