Armenia becomes a new AI infrastructure node​

Firebird has launched an AI factory in Armenia, according to NVIDIA, creating a new compute hub built on NVIDIA accelerated computing and Dell Technologies infrastructure. NVIDIA says the site is the largest AI factory in the CIS region and is designed to support model training, fine-tuning and deployment at scale. The announcement places Armenia into the current race to build national and regional AI capacity rather than depend only on remote cloud services.

A new AI factory in Hrazdan​

The new Firebird AI factory is located in Hrazdan, where NVIDIA says high-performance AI infrastructure has been brought online with Dell PowerEdge servers and NVIDIA’s AI factory platform. The opening ceremony was attended by Nikol Pashinyan, prime minister of Armenia; Zhaslan Madiyev, deputy prime minister of Kazakhstan; and David Allen, U.S. chargé d’affaires, a.i. in Armenia.

NVIDIA describes AI factories as infrastructure built to train, fine-tune and deploy AI models across domains. In this framing, the Armenian site is not only a data center project but a local compute base for developers, startups, enterprises, universities and public institutions that want to build AI systems for their own languages, industries and national priorities. The practical implication is that compute access, rather than only software talent, is becoming a strategic constraint for smaller markets.


Planned scale and hardware roadmap​

Firebird plans to deploy more than 70,000 NVIDIA Rubin and Blackwell GPUs and 300 megawatts of AI infrastructure capacity in Armenia by the end of 2027, according to NVIDIA. Those figures are forward-looking plans, not completed capacity, and they should be read as the company’s stated buildout target.

NVIDIA also cites a broader Firebird roadmap of approximately 2 gigawatts of AI infrastructure across Armenia, Kazakhstan and additional markets. Firebird co-founder Alexander Yesayan said the company’s ambition over the next two years or so is roughly 2 gigawatts of capacity around the world, with a focus on frontier markets. If the roadmap is executed, the Armenian facility would be one node in a wider regional compute network rather than a standalone national project.


DSX efficiency claims and capacity economics​

The Armenian AI factory is built on the NVIDIA DSX platform, which NVIDIA says combines accelerated computing, networking, power and cooling as a codesigned system. The company says DSX can allow up to 40% more GPUs on the same footprint, increasing tokens per dollar and extracting more value from each megawatt of capacity.

Those efficiency claims come from NVIDIA and are relevant because energy and space are central constraints in AI infrastructure. A facility that targets hundreds of megawatts must manage not only GPU supply but power delivery, thermal performance and utilization. For customers, the commercial question will be whether the site can convert planned capacity into reliable model training and inference supply at competitive cost.


Power, cooling and deployment partners​

NVIDIA says the AI factory was delivered in just over six months, with Schneider Electric providing power infrastructure for the Hrazdan facility. The listed systems include medium- and low-voltage switchgear, three-phase uninterruptible power supply systems and rack enclosures, all needed to support rapid deployment of dense compute.

Vertiv supplied a cooling architecture that combines chilled-water technology, advanced controls and Vertiv TrimCooler technology for heat rejection. Its iCOM CWM Chilled Water Manager coordinates cooling resources as AI workload demand shifts. The supplier list matters because GPU clusters at this scale are limited by the full stack of electrical and thermal systems, not by accelerators alone.


Investment signals and early demand​

Firebird also announced that NVIDIA intends to invest in the company, following an earlier investment by CoreWeave this year, according to the NVIDIA post. The source did not provide investment terms. NVIDIA says these investments would support Firebird’s global infrastructure and operational footprint, including efforts to build advanced compute clusters in frontier markets.

Early demand cited by NVIDIA includes Perplexity, which is working with Firebird to access high-performance AI infrastructure for its AI agent platform and answer engine. That customer reference suggests Firebird is positioning the Armenian site not only for domestic use but also for AI-native companies that need additional capacity. The strategic bet is that regional infrastructure can attract global workloads while giving local builders a closer compute base.
