Overview​

Google NotebookLM is a source-grounded research assistant that answers questions with inline citations and transforms uploaded material into reports, study aids, audio, video and visual overviews. It is unusually useful for synthesis, but source selection, generated inaccuracies, sharing controls and edition-specific limits still matter.

Pricing and availability​

Standard access is available without a separate subscription under supported Google accounts. Higher limits, advanced sharing and enterprise protections are included with eligible Google AI or Workspace editions.

NotebookLM accepts PDFs, websites, YouTube, audio and Google files, with mobile sharing and Gemini notebook integration. It does not provide a general public developer API.

Privacy and security​

Google states notebook data is not used to train its models unless a user submits feedback. Workspace editions add stronger protections, but collaborators, shared notebooks and linked Gemini activity require separate access review.
