A telegram is a written message that is sent and delivered over a long distance using telegraph systems. Traditionally, it was transmitted by electrical signals through telegraph wires and then printed or written out at the receiving end for delivery to the recipient. Telegrams were widely used for urgent or important communication before the advent of telephones and electronic messaging.
