Proton migration refers to the movement or transfer of a proton (a hydrogen ion, H⁺) within a molecule, between molecules, or across a medium such as a membrane or electrolyte. This process can occur in chemical reactions, especially acid–base reactions, proton-coupled electron transfer processes, or within biological systems like proton transport in proteins or membranes.
