A liver transplant is a surgical procedure in which a diseased or failing liver is removed and replaced with a healthy liver (or part of a liver) from a donor. It is usually performed when the liver is no longer able to function properly due to conditions such as cirrhosis, liver failure, or certain genetic or metabolic diseases.
