Argonne Lab, formally known as Argonne National Laboratory, is a U.S. Department of Energy research center located near Chicago, Illinois. It conducts scientific research in areas such as energy, materials science, environmental sustainability, computing, and national security. Established in 1946, Argonne was originally formed to continue work from the Manhattan Project and is now one of the leading multidisciplinary research laboratories in the United States.
