Amazon launches Leo satellite internet service for commercial customers

Introducing the Leo Ultra terminal
Alongside the service announcement, Amazon unveiled the final production model of its Leo Ultra customer terminal. Designed for high-bandwidth business use cases, the device supports download speeds of up to 1 Gbps and upload speeds of up to 400 Mbps. These capabilities are enabled by Amazon’s custom-built communications chip designed specifically for the Leo network.A key design feature is the absence of moving parts. By relying on electronic beam steering instead of mechanical motors, the terminal achieves faster setup times and greater long-term reliability.
Built for extreme weather and industrial deployment
Amazon engineered the Leo Ultra terminal to operate in extreme environmental conditions—from freezing winters to high heat, heavy rain and strong winds. The ruggedized architecture targets industrial sectors such as energy, maritime operations, mining, emergency response and rural infrastructure.This durability also positions the device for government and defense applications, where uptime and resilience are critical.
